The pretty holiday village San Vigilio di Marebbe (St. Vigil in Enneberg) at a height of 1.193 m above sea level is embedded in mountain pastures and coniferous forests in the Valle di Marebbe valley, surrounded by the spectacular Dolomite rocks.
The population is of Ladin origin, a thousands of years old Rhaeto-Romanic culture with its own language and traditions.
Another characteristic feature of this area are the old farms on steep hills, with house, stable and baking oven.
San Vigilio is directly connected to the famous skiing resort Plan de Corones and offers various possibilities to enjoy a great skiing holiday in South Tyrol.
Amongst many ski slopes it also has an ice rink in the village.
In summer the nature park Fanes-Sennes-Braies can be discovered on the many well marked hiking trails.
The Nature Park House offers a large amount of information on the preserve and on the formation of the Dolomites and fossils, etc..
The many nice hotels of San Vigilio have nevertheless allowed the preservation of a village atmosphere.
The splendid Baroque parish church was created by three important artists. Master builder was the Ladin Giuseppe De Costa, the stuccowork was carried out by the North Tyrolean Franz Singer and the illusionist ceiling paintings are from Matthäus Günther from Augsburg in Germany.
