Pass Nigra - Malga Hagner

Starting point

From Bolzano you follow the road of the Val d'Ega valley in the direction of Pass Costalunga. Just before the pass, turn left onto the road that leads to Pass Nigra. You park near the pass or near the hotel Pass Nigra.

Type of trip

The route is the wide and wooded ridge, which divides the Val d'Ega valley and the Tires valley. The walk takes place entirely on forest tracks, alternating between flat, ascending and descending parts. It goes through magnificent fir forests and vast open spaces, from where you have excellent view over the Rosengarten and Latemar peaks. The Malga Hagner is situated on a spacious terrace, overlooking the Val d'Ega valley.

Description

Near the hotel Pass Nigra (1690 m), a flat forest road starts, closed by a barrier with a bit of difficulty (Schillerhof indication - Hagneralm) . This road follows the winding mountainous backbone and (after a descent and a long moderate climb ) it leads to refuge Sagerer Schwaige (1630 m) . Follow the route, up to the sign Malga Hagner, but continue on this road and follow the next indication until you reach the Malga Hagner (1556 m) , which is set in panoramic position. Follow the same route to return to Pass Nigra.
